NCDG Gives Back

Foundation Focus

This year NCDG is excited to announce that Ensight Skills Center, a Fort Collins non-profit, will be the focus of our Foundation programming and support. As always, we will also make a direct donation to the Delta Gamma Foundation.

Ensight Skills Center was founded in 2001, and offers accredited, professional, low vision services to improve the lives of those struggling with vision loss and their families. Ensight has a staff of specialized optometrists as well as access to the latest in low-vision technology. Their work includes education, training, information and vision rehabilitation services.

Ensight Executive Director and CEO Denny Moyer knows exactly what living with limited vision is like. She was diagnosed with macular degeneration in college. Her diagnosis never kept her from achieving her goals. As an Occupational Therapy Practitioner with extensive education and experience in low vision, Denny established herself as a professional in the low vision field.  She earned a degree in Healthcare Administration and has a specialty certification in low vision.

Denny serves on the board of directors and as a reviewer for the National Accreditation Council for Blind and Low Vision Services (NAC) and Vision Serve Alliance; is a liaison for the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA); and serves as a trustee on the Fort Collins Lions Foundation.

On a daily basis, Denny practices many of the same techniques and skills she teaches at the Ensight Skills Center, and also uses many of the adaptive aids she sells to consumers.  She is both an excellent teacher and role model for people with low vision. She leads a very active, independent, and productive life as the Director of a nonprofit, a volunteer, a mother, a grandmother and continues to be an active member of the community.

There are many individual opportunities for Northern Colorado Delta Gammas to make a difference at Ensight and earn individual Foundation service hours. The organization needs volunteers for client transportation, reading out loud to clients, folding and mailing the newsletter and more. As a chapter, we will be supporting their signature fundraiser, the Halloween “Eye Ball,” a fun costume event.
